Description
From Orust, by Orust. A sustainable craft. Dimensions: 41x21x3.5 Material: Oak from the West Coast, Orust. Please note that this cutting board is made by hand and therefore the appearance from cutting board to cutting board may differ. E.g. on laser engraving, color, etc. Each cutting board is unique. And we think that's charming. Oak is a fantastic wood material because it is made of hard woods that do not wear down so quickly – which makes the cutting board extra durable. Here is the cutting board that comes to you to stay. Perfect for whatever you want to cut: meat, fish, vegetables. Everything is a breeze thanks to sturdy silicone feet mounted on the underside. Also great as a magnificent serving tray on the buffet table or for the charcuterie tray and will be a lovely interior detail in your kitchen. A product you want to have on display.
Care Wash the cutting board after use in warm water and then rinse with cold water. Do not drown it and do not use more water than necessary as wood is a living material that can swell. Wipe with paper or a towel and let it dry standing upright or on your feet. Vinegar or vinegar can be used to quickly disinfect your cutting board Rough cleaning is easiest done by sprinkling salt on the cutting board after washing it and rubbing it thoroughly over the entire cutting board. Then let it sit for half an hour and rinse it off thoroughly and you have a clean and bacteria-free cutting board. Don't forget to oil the cutting board after a rough cleaning with a mineral oil for cutting boards. it.
How the cutting board is made The right timber is sifted out and marked on the various board blanks so that it can then be sawn out. Only oak of the absolute best quality is good enough for Vargen & Thor. When the blanks are sawn, these are aligned and leveled and then sanded in 5 separate rounds with sandpaper in a thickness of 80 all the way up to 240, this to get as smooth and clean a surface as possible. The next step in the process is to prepare the engraving laser to burn the logo onto the board blank. This step goes relatively quickly and now we come to the part that takes the longest. Now the boards are oiled with a paraffin oil, this is very well suited for cutting boards as it is odorless and tasteless. The board blanks are soaked in this oil and left to soak for 24 hours. After 24 hours, they are wiped off of excess oil, then left for 4 – 6 days to dry in peace and quiet. When the material is finished, holes are drilled for the silicone feet which are then screwed in place..
Finally, we lubricate the board blanks with an extra protective layer of wax made of beeswax and carnuba wax. This gives the now finished cutting boards an extra protective water-repellent layer as well as a pleasant scent.
